I went to see Savoy at the Fillmore in Denver two nights ago (it feels like I should say last night… I slept all day yesterday, and I really feel like it was last night. The show was sick! If they ever pass anywhere near you – Go! What an experience!
Dreams, that’s where I have to go To see your beautiful – face anymore I stare at a picture of you, and listen to the radio Hope, hope there’s a conversation Where we both admit we had it good But until then it’s alienation, I know That much is understood – and I realizeIf you ask me how I’m doing I would say I’m doing just fine I would lie and say that you’re not on my mind But I go out and I sit down at a table set for two And finally I’m forced to face the truth, No matter what I say I’m – not over you (not over you)Damn, damn boy you do it well And I thought you were innocent Took this heart and put it through hell But still you’re magnificent I’m a boomerang, doesn’t matter how you throw me I turn around and I’m back in the game Even better than the old me But I’m not even close without youAnd if I had the chance to renew You know there isn’t a thing I wouldn’t do I could get back on the right track But only if you’d be convinced So until then…
I miss hearing your voice, All the words that you said to me But now this empty space fills me up and takes over me And I cant escape it
It always keeps coming back The sound of missing you I hear it all around The sound of missing you The silence is so loud The sound of missing you
I cant break through these walls that are rising in front of me And the deeper I fall, I realise I never gonna be free Baby release me
It always keeps coming back The sound of missing you I hear it all around The sound of missing you The silence is so loud The sound of missing you
Time goes by and it feels like Im just going out of my mind What we had, bring it back now Cause Im feeling empty inside Oh, times goes by and it feels like Im just going out of my mind What we had, bring it back now Cause Im feeling empty inside
It always keeps coming back The sound of missing you I hear it all around The sound of missing you The silence is so loud
(Yeah) I miss hearing your voice, All the words that you said to me (oh I need you) But now this empty space fills me up and takes over me (heeeey) (Baby release me) I cant break through these walls, they are rising in front of me (it alway keeps coming back) (The sound of missing you) And the deeper I fall, I realise I never gonna be free (I hear it all around) (The sound of missing you) I cant break through these walls, they are rising in front of me (the silence is so loud) The sound of missing you
After one has had so many lovers, and you find one that is so compatible, and lose them – there is the fear that noone else will ever be as good. But in all probability, with 7 billion people in the World – there is still hope to perhaps find someone even more compatible.
It hurts
When you get too close
But baby it hurts
If love is really good
You just want more
Even if it throws you to the fire fire fire fire
All the lovers
That have gone before
They don’t compare to you
Don’t be running
Just give me a little bit more
They don’t compare
All the lovers ~Kylie Minogue
Charles just finished his 30-day song challenge yesterday, and I thought starting it myself would be a blast. So here goes.
They start out with the most challenging: your favorite song. I really had to think about this. Music is such a big part of my life, and I don’t seem to get stuck in one time period or genre. The music I am listening to at any given time depends on what exactly is going on in my life right at that moment. So I knew that this day 1 challenge song of mine had to be something that would outlive any of my fads and whims.
Keeping that in mind – I asked myself, “If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life – what would it be?” I have to admit – the answer came somewhat easily after that. I could definitely narrow it down to one musical group – Metallica. I have never grown tired of their music in any stage of my life. As a matter of fact, after deciding that I needed to throw all of my “secular” music away – their music is what I held on to the longest. Their CD’s and cassettes were the last to be thrown. (Just a side note – I no longer have any such ridiculous restrictions on myself now.)
After narrowing down the group – the songs that I probably would never grow tired of listening to of theirs and that hold the most meaning for me are Fade to Black, Nothing Else Matters, and The Unforgiven (yes – I am stuck on ballads!) But, the melody and lyrics for Nothing Else Matters have absolutely been burned inside my brain, so that has to be the song.
Metallica
If you don’t know who Metallica is, you are either a much bigger dork than I am, or were in a bomb shelter much longer than I was. Metallica is a heavy rock band that have been around since the ’80′s. The three permanent members have been James Hatfield, Lars Ulrich, and Kirk Hammett. Bassists have switched in and out. Their original bassist, Cliff Burton, died in 1986, and was replaced by Jason Newsted. In the early 2000′s, Newsted left the band, and was replaced with Ozzy‘s bassist, Robert Trujillo (to be honest, I am the least familiar with Metallica’s music since this swap!)
I cannot remember how I was introduced to Metallica’s music. It definitely was not by the radio. Metallica was pretty underground when I was in high school – and not played on any top 40 or rock station. It seems that they were always there in my friend’s scene in high school.
Nothing Else Matters was the fourth single released off the Black Album – of course if you were like me, and purchased the CD on the day it was released, you heard it that first day and loved it! This was in 1992, and I was getting ready to graduate from college, and pregnant with my first child. I don’t remember this ong connected with anybody in my life – except another kick ass Metallica song – only this time a rocking ballad. According to Wikipedia, it has been covered over forty times. One of my favorite covers by Apocalyptica:
I had been on a search for a place to rest my earphones. I believe today that search has finally ended at StereoFame. StereoFame is today’s shirt for the famous shirt-wearer @iwearyourshirt. So I thought I would sign-up and check it out. It seems to be a win-win situation for all involved. Artists can post music on the site, and if you are a listener – like I am – you can make your own record label.
But the really fun thing about StereoFame is that there are opportunities to win awesome prizes (iPods, skateboards, tents, kayaks, TVs…) by collecting points and then bidding. Here are ways that your record label can earn points:
The primary means for Labels to maximize their point value is by discovering great music – as determined by the Stereofame community who provide “thumbs up” and “thumbs down” for songs and inviting friends to Stereofame. The better your signed artists do on Stereofame, the more points you get. But you can also score big points by downloading music, creating a great profile page, or just listening to the great artists we have here on Stereofame.
Please note that if a Label is logged in, the Label will also earn points for listening to and voting on Non-Game Music just as you would when listening to or voting on music entered in the game. (stereofame.com)
The amount of interaction and fun that you can have as a listener is way more that other sites I have tried – so join today – and Enjoy!
