Untitled by Norm Murray
As I was searching for a piece of art to write fiction about tonight, I came across some absolutely amazingly beautiful photographs. The photographs were done by Norm Murray. The first photograph pictured a beautiful nude woman hanging by ropes. I am sure if one hears that description, one might think of a masochistic piece of pornography. But these photographs are anything but that. Each piece excellently captures the beautiful lines and shape of the female body, and cannot be considered anything but art.
I visited Norm Murray’s personal website, and in his own words:
I am, for lack of a better term, what I’ll describe as a “starving artist” style of photographer… My visions run across many gamuts of the photographic and artistic spectrum. I love working with models, and seem to be drawn most into the artistic nude and beauty genres of shooting, so far all about emphasis of femininity… Eventually I would like to sell prints and photo-book compilations of my work and perhaps to seek publication in a handful of magazines but, as you can see by looking at my style it doesn’t match much of any market out there and I don’t want to be compromising my passion and one of the real joys in my life in order to put food on the table… My background outside of photography includes a degree in Cell Biology and several years working as a computer programmer.
Before visiting his home page, I expected to see a “Tom Ford-like” fashion photographer. However, Norm Murray in no Tom Ford, but looks like someone I would imagine sitting at a computer or in a lab with a pair of safety goggles! It appears that his education has molded his looks. But despite his “boy next door” look – his photography expresses something wholly different than that. I am sure he will not be the starving artist much longer. Am I to think that I am a “market of one”?! I surely doubt it.
He states, “Sometime later this year I hope to be able to offer many of my images as prints for sale and I’d be very interested to hear which you would be most interested in seeing as either limited edition or open edition runs.” Norm – I personally would love to hang “Hearts” or “Inversion” on any of my walls. Good Luck!
Here are some of my favorite photographs of his to add to my digital library. Enjoy!
