Redeemable Day – Cirque du Soleil

I have never been labor day camping – as a child, nor as an adult.  Like any other holiday – the day was never marked.  In addition, the place where I currently work does not give us that day off.  So as I heard of others packing up to go on their last camping trip of the summer, I prepared my mind for a normal weekend.

But Mike was not planning another normal weekend – he bought tickets for Cirque du Soleil.  By the end of the week, I am so spent – that all I can think of is taking a nap.  After my nap – I was so annoyed at the thought of driving to Denver.  But I showered, packed as best as I could (not knowing where any of my clean clothes are… and my personal wardrobe girl is now in Kansas.)  As I started out on the road – Mike called me – and I went on and on about how I should be staying home to clean my house.

About an hour into the drive – I got more energy, and thought what a bitch I was being.  Mike had planned a spectacular weekend for us (just buying tickets to Cirque du Soleil was nice enough – but he had planned even more than that for us…) and all I did was worry about time I wasn’t going to be spending on housework.

I called him back and apologized, and told him that we could even go out that night and do whatever he wanted.  I opened myself up for anything – I had an incredible weekend – just a few highlights of our Friday evening – karoke, pool hopping, skinny dipping, and some wonderful intimate moments.

And for “a guy” – he planned an awesome Saturday.  We went to the Science Museum, and saw Wild Ocean at the IMAX theatre, and walked around the new Health Exhibit.  After spending the afternoon there – we got dressed for our evening out.  We ate at Bistro Vendome, the sister restaurant of Rioja.  It was absolutely perfect weather to eat out on the patio, and besides the small portions – both Mike and I thought the food was sensational.

And then the highlight of the weekend  – Cirque du Soleil!  All I am going to say right now is that the show was such a sensual experience that I wanted to cry when it was over.  I never wanted it to end.

We ended Saturday night watching the movie The Soloist – and there couldn’t be a better ending to a packed Saturday.  This weekend gave me enough wonderful things to write about for the next week.

When I told Michael “Thank You,” he replied “I love making you happy.”  It was the best Labor Day weekend I have ever had.  Holidays are being redeemed one by one.  Perhaps all it takes it letting go and cooperating with those that want to make me happy!

Sick Puppies – So What I Lied (Acoustic)

Posted in Music with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on August 21, 2009 by razor

Ahhhh – the time has finally come to share some music! The Sick Puppies, a hard hitting trio from Australia, recently released their latest tracks on Tri-Polar. I was excited to receive an exclusive bootleg of an acoustic version of “So What I Lied” from Revolver Mag. If you are in Colorado – like me, you can see the Sick Puppies in Colorado Springs at the Black Sheep on September 8th, or in Denver at the Bluebird on September 9th.  Hell – why not make a three nighter out of it and join the band at the Granada in Lawrence Kansas the next night on September 10th. If you are not close to any of these venues, here are other places to catch them.

I wish them the best of luck on this tour – Love!

Enjoy!
